|
Delegates should make their own travel arrangements. Should you require any assistance or advice, please, contact the Secretariat. The Secretariat will also gladly assist you in making hotel reservations for you should you arrive before the Workshop. Please contact us and give us the details. Travel to and from SkukuzaMost delegates will arrive via Johannesburg International Airport. Bus transport from Johannesburg Airport to Skukuza (and return) will be provided for delegates at an additional cost. The journey time is some five to six hours. Please note: In order to have sufficient time to comfortably reach the Kruger Park before the gates close, the busses must leave Johannesburg Airport no later than 11:00 am on Sunday, 17 August. If you are going to use the bus transport, please ensure that your flight arrives in Johannesburg sufficiently early (allowing time for immigration formalities, baggage retrieval, etc and flight delays) to meet that deadline. Delegates also have the option to fly from from Johannesburg to the new Kruger Mpumalanga Airport close to Skukuza. Local carriers SA Airlink, SA Express and Nationwide all have regular flights to there from Johannesburg. The flight time is approximately 40 - 55 minutes (depending on the airline and the type of aircraft used). Transport will also be provided from Kruger Mpumalanga to Skukuza (and return), at an additional cost, for delegates taking this option. As INDABA IV is planned as a satellite meeting of ECM-21, bus transport from Skukuza directly to Durban will also be arranged (leaving Skukuza on Friday morning, 22 August), at an additional cost, if there is sufficient demand. Note: you will have to book two extra nights accomodation (Friday night and Saturday Night) in Durban if you take this option. Delegates who are attending ECM-21 also have the option to fly directly to Durban from Kruger Mpumalanga Airport. SA Airlink have two flights per day (weekdays) from Kruger Mpumalanga to Durban. The flight time is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. Please indicate on the online registration form if you wish to use any of the bus options. Private travel to SkukuzaDelegates who wish to make their own way to Skukuza by private vehicle can consult the Kruger Park website for routes from the Johannesburg area to the various gates of the Park. Please note: in August, the Park and camp gates all close at 18:00 (6 pm). Please ensure you arrive at the Park with sufficient time to pass through the formalities at the Park gate and then to get to Skukuza before 18:00. The Kruger Park website page (previous link) also has a table of minimum travel times between the various gates and camps in the Park. For Skukuza, the recommended Park entrance gates (with minimum travel time to Skukuza) are: Paul Kruger (20 mins), Numbi (1 hour 30 mins), Malelane (1 hour 45 mins) and the new Phabeni gate (1 hour 5 mins).
