Instructions to authors

The abstracts for ECM-21 will be published using two columns to an A4 page with 2.5 cm margins top and bottom and a column width of 8cm. The font used will be 10pt Times New Roman, single spaced thus allowing ca 60 lines, each containing ca 50 characters, per column. This will amount to a maximum of some 400 - 500 words. Each abstract submitted must fit into a single column - including the title etc., any figures and any references. Abstracts, which are too long to fit, will not be accepted and the author(s) will be required to submit an edited version.
Figures (if any) and references should be restricted to those necessary for the comprehension of the abstract.
The abstracts should be laid out as follows: the title in bold with the name(s) of the author(s) (the presenting author given first), in normal text, and their affiliations, in italics, following on with no line breaks. "Keywords:" followed by a succinct list of keywords should follow starting on a new line. This is followed by a blank line and then the body of the abstract.
The first line of each paragraph should be indented by one tab stop (preferably set to 0.5 cm) and there should be no blank lines between paragraphs. References should be indicated by numbers in square brackets [1],[2].etc. in the text and be given at the end of the abstract [1]. Figures (if any) should be placed at the appropriate point(s) in the text. The body of the abstract should be followed by a blank line and then any references should be given using 8pt type.
If the abstract is submitted in a formatted form, as a MSWord (.doc) or rich text format (.rtf) file, please adhere to the specified format including the font (10pt Times New Roman - or an equivalent typeface) and use columns or set the margins to give a text width of 8 cm and set full justification.Do not include any headers or footers nor the abstract reference number box - these will be added during editing. Authors are encouraged to submit fully formatted files (MSWord or rtf), however, if this is not possible, a plain text file will be accepted. Please use any formatting that is available to help the editors format the document as easily as possible. Bear in mind that the abstract must fit in the prescribed space once it has been formatted.
